Legacy Projects of VCCA
The following projects were major events with which the VCCA and its members were associated.
Dragon Boat Festival
The Festival began in 1994 as part of the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria. To mark Hong Kong Day, the Victoria Chinese Commerce Association brought dragon boats from Vancouver to Victoria for exhibition races. For the first few years the Festival was organized and managed by the VCCA. As the event grew with more teams participating, the Dragon Boat Festival Society was formed to take over the operation of the Festival.

Chinatown Night Market
The idea of a Chinatown Night Market was presented to the Directors of the VCCA by local realtor, Tony Joe in early 2011. The Directors agreed to take on this project and struck a working committee to plan one market night as a trial run. That Market was very successful and the committee began planning to present one Market each month for June, July, August and September of 2012. Like the Dragon Boat Festival, the Night Market out grew the ability of the VCCA to manage.
150 Years in Golden Mountain
On the 8th day of the 8th month in the year 2008 the VCCA presented a celebration of the arrival of the first Chinese immigrants in Canada. This celebration consisted of a Gala Awards ceremony held at the Empress Hotel and an original Pageant depicting the poignant events of a 150 years of Chinese history in Canada.
